RAC comments on one-year anniversary of Lac-Mégantic accident

Today, the Railway Association of Canada (RAC) is reflecting on the one-year anniversary of the terrible tragedy in Lac-Mégantic, Que. The Canadian railway industry wishes to express its continued sympathy to the families and friends of the victims, and to all those whose lives were disrupted, as a result of the accident.

“This tragedy deeply affected every railway, and every rail employee in Canada”, said RAC President and CEO, Michael Bourque. “The community of Lac-Mégantic continues to be in the hearts and minds of the Canadian rail industry.”

Nothing is more important to Canada’s railways than operating safely. The industry is committed to learning everything it can from this incident, to ensure that a tragedy like this never happens again.
