Registration opens for Canadian Rail Summit and RSI/CMA 2014
June 5, 2014The Railway Association of Canada is pleased to announce that registration and hotel reservations are open for the Canadian Rail Summit (CRS) 2014, being held September 21-23 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal (Montréal Convention Center). Some 1,500 industry leaders and stakeholders are expected to attend the conference, which will showcase 140 exhibits and feature educational sessions on topics including rail safety culture, supply chain competitiveness and the 2015 Canadian Transportation Act review. Claude Mongeau, President and CEO of CN, will be the keynote speaker for the event. -
Goderich Exeter Railway hosts TRANSCAER® event
May 20, 2014On May 7 and 8, the GEXR hosted a TRANSCAER event in their both Stratford and Kitchener Ontario railyards. This event was attended by local emergency responders (Fire and EMS) in order to educate them on what to expect in the event of a dangerous goods incident on railway property. -
Daniel Beaudry awarded 2014 Roger Cyr Award for outstanding contribution to rail safety

Railway Association of Canada responds to rail safety measures
April 23, 2014The Railway Association of Canada (RAC) supports standards announced today by Transport Canada (TC) and will work with TC and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with the department’s plan to strengthen rail safety. The rail sector believes rail tank cars used for transporting flammable liquids should be built to the highest standards. Today’s announcement of a three-year phase-out for legacy tank cars marks an important step toward a fleet of cars that will enhance safety. -

Railway Association of Canada releases 2011 Locomotive Emissions Monitoring report
April 4, 2014The Railway Association of Canada (RAC) today released its 2011 report on greenhouse gases (GHG) and criteria air contaminants (CAC) emitted from locomotives operating in Canada. Locomotive Emissions Monitoring Program 2011 shows that, assuming that they maintain this level of performance, Canadian railways are on track to meet their 2015 GHG reduction targets, demonstrating solid fuel economy in light of increased freight volumes and passenger traffic. -
Dangerous Goods Preparedness for Emergency Responders

RAC Grows DG Team
March 17, 2014Gary Bauer, based out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan will be the RAC’s Transportation of Dangerous Goods Specialist covering Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Gary has an excellent background as an inspector, trainer and emergency responder and will apply these skills to the benefit of RAC member railways, rail customers and shippers along with the municipalities in Central Canada.
