City of Montreal wins Merrill Henderson Award for its leadership in community-railway proximity awareness
September 22, 2014The City of Montreal has been selected as the first-ever recipient of the Merrill Henderson Award for its proactive approach in identifying and planning for new residential developments in proximity to railway operations. Anie Samson, Montreal city councillor and chair of the city’s public-safety committee, accepted the award today at the 2014 Canadian Rail Summit. -

September 19, 2014The Railway Association of Canada, the Canadian Association of Railway Suppliers, and the U.S.-based Railway Supply Institute and Coordinated Mechanical Associations invite the media to attend the Canadian Rail Summit and RSI/CMA 2014 at the Montreal Convention Centre on Sept. 21-23, 2014. Claude Mongeau, CN’s President and CEO, will address the opening plenary session of the three-day conference and trade show on Monday, Sept. 22 at 8:20 a.m. EDT. -

August 7, 2014In June 2014, the RAC Dangerous Goods Team (DGT) turned a young 15 years old. Since June 1999, the DGT has serviced RAC members in Transportation of Dangerous Goods-related issues admirably. -
RSI/CMA 2014 & Canadian Rail Summit Exhibits Expected to Sell Out
July 16, 2014Exhibit space is 85 per cent sold for RSI/CMA 2014 and the Canadian Rail Summit (CRS), the upcoming trade show and conference highlighting the U.S. and Canadian railway and railway supply industries’ newest research, products and services. This year, the Railway Supply Institute’s (RSI) annual trade show and conference will include exhibits from the Canadian Association of RailwaySuppliers (CARS); in addition, the Coordinated Mechanical Associations (CMA) technical and educational sessions are being held in conjunction with the Railway Association of Canada’s (RAC) Canadian Rail Summit. This first-ever combined event will be held September 21-23, 2014 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal (Montréal Convention Center), and is expected to draw close to 1,500 attendees. -
RAC comments on one-year anniversary of Lac-Mégantic accident

The Canadian railway industry wishes to express its continued sympathy to the families and friends of the victims, and to all those whose lives were disrupted, as a result of the accident. -
New rail safety exhibition to open at Exporail
July 4, 2014The Railway Association of Canada (RAC) is pleased that Operation Lifesaver, a partnership initiative of RAC and Transport Canada, has announced a planned railway safety-themed exhibition at Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum. The exhibition, set up in conjunction with CN, will cover a wide range of crucial safety issues, such as vigilance near railway tracks, technological innovation, and changes in safety practices and regulations. -
